Jurgen Klopp defends fielding weakened Liverpool team against Shrewsbury

Liverpool brushed aside West Ham at the London Stadium to continue their seemingly unstoppable march towards the Premier League title.

The reigning European and world champions took the lead just after the half-hour mark in controversial circumstances.

Divock Origi was brought down in the box by Issa Diop and, after a long VAR check, a penalty kick was awarded. Mohamed Salah stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to fire Liverpool into the lead.

The win was then assured in the second-half when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rounded off a fine move, slotting past Lukasz Fabianski after a sensational pass from Salah.

The 2-0 win means Liverpool have a 19 point lead over Manchester City in second. Here are our player ratings.
