Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Cast reunion

The cast of Scott Pilgrim vs the World have reunited over Zoom for a virtual table read.

Marking the 10-year anniversary of the film’s release, the stars of Edgar Wright’s graphic novel adaptation, including Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, read through the entire script over video to benefit charity Water for People.

“Welcome to a very special read of Scott Pilgrim vs the World,” Wright said. “Clearly we’re all exactly the same, and the world hasn’t changed a bit. The love that you, the fans, have continued to show this movie... has not only kept this movie alive and kicking, but it has sustained us and our friendships as well.”

After introducing themselves, the film’s cast, which also included Alison Pill, Mae Whitman, Jason Schwartzman, Ellen Wong, Satya Bhabha, Brandon Routh and Mark Webber, took part in a full read of the film’s script.

Wright read aloud the script’s written directions along with co-writer Michael Bacall, while creator Bryan Lee O’Malley illustrated some of the most memorable scenes.

Released in 2010, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is set in Toronto and stars Cera as the titular character, who discovers that in order to date new crush Ramona Flowers (Winstead), he must destroy all her evil exes in battle.

The film was originally a box office flop, but quickly gained cult status with its fans.

Earlier this year, Captain America star Evans, who plays skateboarding film actor Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim, told Entertainment Weekly: “The Marvel fan base is rabid, but the Scott Pilgrim fandom is just as dedicated and loyal as any fandom I’ve ever seen.”
